Jim has advised on more than 200 media transactions across the U.S., Canada, Mexico and Puerto Rico over the last 23 years. Prior to founding Johnsen, Fretty & Company, LLC, Jim was Vice President at Southport Partners, a boutique investment bank serving the technology sector. While at Southport Partners, Jim advised IBM on a number of joint ventures, strategic partnerships, investments, and divestitures. Jim received his MBA from Yale University and his BS in Electrical Engineering from Brown University. Jim holds Series 79 (Investment Banking Representative), Series 62 (Corporate Securities Representative), and Series 63 (Uniform Securities Agent State Law) registrations as a registered representative of StillPoint Capital, LLC.

Clients have included Owner/Operators, Financial Institutions/Sponsors, and Public Corporations, and involved divestitures, debt & equity financings, acquisitions, restructurings, strategic advisory, and valuations. He has also been a featured speaker at several industry conferences. Previously, he was with JP Morgan. He received his MBA from Duke University and his BA, with Distinction, in Economics from the University of Michigan. Gabe has advised on more than 250 media transactions across a wide spectrum of out-of-home, place-based and digital media. These transactions include divestitures, debt/equity financings, acquisitions, asset swaps, strategic partnerships, restructurings, and valuations/fairness opinions. Additionally, he has been called as a testifying expert in bankruptcy and litigation proceedings involving a range of issues, including valuation of out-of-home companies, out-of-home media trends, as well as industry best practices. Gabe’s commentary is regularly featured in the out-of-home industry’s leading traded publications. Gabe is a graduate of the University of Virginia where he received his BS in Commerce with concentrations in Finance and Marketing. Gabe holds Series 79 (Investment Banking Representative), Series 63 (Uniform Securities Agent State Law), and Series 82 (Private Securities Offerings Representative) registrations, and is a registered representative of StillPoint Capital.
